Quality Amateur Drama in Tunbridge Wells
The Pantiles Players is an amateur theatre company based in Tunbridge Wells, with a distinguished past going back many decades and with seriously exciting aspirations for the future. Our interest is in quality drama and we welcome anyone with similar enthusiasm for all aspects of theatre - performing, directing, designing, lighting, sound and musical support, costume and set building.
Formed in 1942 to provide local wartime entertainment, the Players have performed at various locations around Tunbridge Wells over the year. From 1983 to 2009, our principal productions were on the bandstand in the famous Tunbridge Wells Pantiles. However, times change and the venue is no longer sustainable due to noise from local bars. We have therefore moved our primary locations to Salomons, a stately home in Southborough.
The Pantiles Players have performed at Salomons since 2007. The location has proved a great success and our loyal following enjoys the unique, private offering of the great house.
In 1988, the Pantiles Players started touring our summer production to Lurgashall, an idyllic village near Petworth in West Sussex, where performances take place in the garden of the village pub, the Noah's Ark. Please see our venues page for details of all the locations at which we perform.
The Pantiles Players operate an open audition system for all their productions, and newcomers are always welcome. Please see our auditions page for details of auditions for our upcoming productions.
Please take a look round the site, and contact us if you have any queries. We hope to see you at one of our productions soon! Below are a selection of photographs of the Pantiles Players' most recent productions, Puss in Boots and Fawlty Towers.
